Getting started
Who is the therapist at ShadeTree Counseling, LLC?
ShadeTree Counseling is the brainchild of Lidia Conners, a licensed clinical social worker with a master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Kansas. What makes Lidia different from others in the field is that, along with English, she also speaks Spanish, allowing her to connect with a wider client base.
How can I get started with therapy at ShadeTree Counseling, LLC?
Getting started with therapy at ShadeTree Counseling, LLC, is simple and straightforward. First, you can reach out to us via our contact page or by calling +1 (913) 802-3625 to schedule an initial consultation. During this consultation, you will have the opportunity to discuss your concerns and goals with our mental health therapist, Lidia Conners.
What happens in the first session?
In our first session we will learn if we are a best fit for you and what brought you to therapy. We will conduct a biopsychosocial assessment that will provide clinical information to identify your specific mental health concerns and condition. We will also identify your goals for treatment and start building a therapeutic alliance that leads to a healthy and peaceful life.
Therapy with Lidia
What do you help with?
I help clients, at their pace, overcome trauma, depression and anxiety by developing a plan geared toward calming the nervous system, addressing distorted beliefs about yourself, the world, and others.
Which methods do you use?
I use Mindfulness and Self-Hypnosis to work with negative subconscious processes, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help with traumatic memories. I also employ somatic techniques to help integrate the body and teach self-regulation as I treat mental health conditions.
How does therapy for depression work?
I utilize Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) to work with the conscious mind, identify negative thoughts, cognitive distortions, and erroneous core beliefs affecting client’s mental health. Specific techniques will be utilized to tailor the client’s specific need and interest as I know that what works for one person may not necessarily work for all.
Can I have sessions in Spanish?
I am bilingual which allows me to connect with clients that speak English or Spanish.
Telehealth
Do you see clients in person?

Is this for emergencies?
No. If you are in crisis or thinking about suicide, call or text 988 (the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) or chat at 988lifeline.org. If you are in immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
